My heart leapt when I recognized my youngest son (I love this little guy so much...) He didn’t have to say anything, I’d already seen from the look on his face that something was up. - Hi pop, I’ve just been to a birthday party... - ouch! I understand, that can’t have been easy... - it’s not that, pop! I just had an argument with my friend, that’s all! I sat down with him on a step. I was genuinely interested in what he had to tell me (I listened just as carefully as I would have with an adult). I didn’t bombard him with advice, I just listened attentively to him. - and then, pop, what’s more, I’ve got a really hard English test to hand in, I have to stick photos of each member of my family and write something about them and…and I don’t know how… - don’t worry precious, super pop is here! (sometimes, I even believe it myself!) I went back home, turned on my PC and showed him exactly what he had to do, and he sat on my lap and got on with it. It would have been quicker for me to do it all myself, but he wouldn’t have learnt anything and to tell you the truth, I like to make these times we have together last. The time we spend with those whom we love is never wasted, (rather, it’s always time we’ve saved). Our work finished, we were as pleased with ourselves as a couple of Vikings who'd just finished a bit of pillaging and plundering! We toasted the occasion with a big glass of cordial and a manly ‘cheers’ Early Fall I continued on my way, towards the forest. We really are right slap bang IN the masterpiece of the greatest Artist of them all. The elements are His tools, His rays of sun the multicolored palette from which he paints, these (His) last times: He doesn’t hold back! He scatters a thousand joyous shades upon the trees, drawing them into a jubilant waltz around me, all against a subtle backdrop of white mist that crowns Him the master poet. Despite his efforts, He is unable to take my mind off my worries, my head was a muddled mass of grown-up cares, So He decided to take another tack… The meeting Then, someone came towards me along the path. From afar He had already seen from the look on my face that something was up… It was the Divine artist Himself: super Pop... Maybe next time there’ll be an invitation from the amphibian and geological research center of the communist north pole, you never know… Every 45 minutes throughout the day, every day, I gave a drawing master class to an entire class of teenagers who could ask me whatever questions they wanted. That’s when I realized just how much God had touched their hearts... That’s our deal: I take care of the drawing, He takes care of hearts. Questions Time and again, they were about faith. Although it’s true that our generation feels lost, one thing cannot be denied: it wants to find a way to faith... They even stayed on during the lunch break, (it’s not as if I’m handing out free drugs or anything!) Some waited for their friends to leave before coming to ask me more... A good omen A selection from all my comic books were displayed on the wall. The drawings that made the biggest impact were from my next album: ‘Conventional Wisdom 3’ (accounting for more than half of the framed drawings sold). The college has kept several drawings on permanent display awesome, it just keeps going!! Saahsal The bar that we played in on Saturday was a heavy metal venue (wood not being a musical genre). Although we would acknowledge some of our influences come under this category of noise, rock is more our style (I know, pebble isn’t a musical genre either). Before unleashing the sound, we got into a circle outside and called on the Holy Spirit’s help. In the end, we even had to play two encores, the barmaid said it was the best concert she’d ever heard in the venue (and it wasn’t because it was the first concert they’d ever had...very funny you guys!) Leaving the venue (like, really late at night), we were surprised to see just how unsafe the neighborhood was: along both sides of the street, prostitutes were touting for business and men were mistaking other women for their wives. A ballet on paper A dance company, composed of dancers who had been chosen to be principal dancers by the famous Maurice Béjart has created a ballet based on my last comic book ‘Marcel’s vacations’. (totally out there, don’t you think?!!) They’re not at all connected with the Christian scene, but they were touched by the story of the child who’s dying of hunger, the charity ‘Compassion’ will also be there! (I’d quoted them in the book) I’m going to open the show with a guitar solo (Gulp! All alone as well!) and I’ll accompany the dancers with the deft movements of my pencil (there’s not much else I can do). All this is happening at the Octogone de Pully theater!! (Lausanne, Switzerland) The performance has already been staged once, but due to popular demand, it’s to be put on a second time. Does it mean being known?" - "Um...yes, no,…hang on, I’ll explain it to you": One day, I’ll arrive at Heaven’s gate, which will be incredibly impressive, guarded by archangels who are so powerful that I’ll be as insignificant as a fly without a passport buzzing around their feet. These Guardians are dressed in white, not in white clothes, but white like all the waters of the Niagara falls, although so much more powerful, that compared to these guardians, these falls are little more than the size of a toilet flush in a dolls’ house bathroom (made In China, sold on through eBay in the ‘well worn’ category). All the inhabitants of Heaven are there, calm, beautiful, amazing, celestial... Do you know that in the depths of their looks we can read the wisdom drawn from the mysteries of ancient times? (Yeah… I don’t understand that bit either, but it sounds good, doesn’t it?) They watch, unable to believe their eyes, as the piteous beggar pleads before the door: -"Let me in, I am the blind and deaf friend of your King! Blind, because throughout my life, He gave me so many wonderful things, so much help, but I was almost unable to see it. Deaf, because He talked to me so often yet I heard so little of what He said... My understanding was so limited that when confronted with the absence of loved ones, suffering and death, I understood nothing... But sometimes, in the ‘coincidences’ of life, I sensed His presence and in the silence of my prayers, I heard the quiet sound of His steps..." Then, from the furthest reaches of paradise, Jesus Christ Himself, King of all the universe, will appear, generating a hum of astonished murmurs. He’ll make His way through the awe-struck crowd, and reaching out to me with open arms, He’ll cry: - "let him through, let him through... he’s my friend!" They’ll think that I’ve gone off the straight and narrow, that I’m getting a fat head... or worse still, that I read Sonic the Hedgehog comics in secret!Everyone will give up on me...! "
(I get like this sometimes)
I went off into the deepest part of the forest
- " ...what would it be like if I lost my reputation as a good Christian... "
Silence...
- "...Ok Lord... you can have that reputation... as long as I can stay friends with you ".
The fragile branches that I cling to
My ministry, my children, my wife, my possessions, my health, my reputation, (the list isn’t in order of importance, by the way)
These are all branches that form my tree
If one day, the divine gardener were to lop one of them off:
It’s true, I’d suffer (no kidding),but I wouldn’t die either!
Because the main trunk of my life are in my relationship with Jesus. There, far from the hustle and bustle of the city,
I felt a great peace come over me,
It was Jesus, reassuring me...
What about you, how are you doing?
Have you lost an important branch of your life...(?)
Take courage, Jesus will never let you go, only He is invincible!
life, together with all the good things it’s got in store, will return, you can be sure of that...
Beware of one thing, however:
Make sure that Jesus is not just one branch amongst others in your life…..
If the axis upon which your life turns isn’t solid,
When it’s cut down...

I was moving house and had loads of stuff.
- "Lord, could you send me some help, please? "
In the morning, I found a tall North African teenager (on vacation in the area) standing in the doorway :- "Can I help you?! "
He asked, in a pleasant tone. I couldn’t believe it.
After we’d finished working, I told him about my prayer...
He froze, and told me:
- "I...I heard a voice that told me to go and help you, that’s why I came’’
How amazing is that? He’s from a non-practicing Muslim family...but he still heard God’s voice
What about you? Are you careful to listen for God’s voice?
In his country, it’s a time of revolution, soldiers are firing live ammunition in the streets...
He recently wrote to my son, saying: "Ask your father to pray for me... Yes, when I return to Switzerland I’d like to find out more about the faith of your father... I’ve tried reasoning with him again and again: it’s like talking to a brick wall! What should I do?!’ I looked into his soul and replied: - ‘play with him!’ As he was left open-mouthed by my comment, I went on: - ‘how do you expect him to be interested in you (and your church), If you don’t take an interest in what he does?’ Pensive (and a little disappointed) he went on his way. I expect he would have preferred it had I exorcised an evil spirit from his son's computer games … Your sons will return Another time, at the end of a talk, (everyone will think that I only do the ends of talks!) I was giving an elderly man a lift back to his house. When I switched the engine on, the CD player came on automatically too. It was the passage where Jacob, now very old, talks to his son Joseph, whom he’d given up for dead for so many years: (no, Joseph hadn’t recorded a CD, it’s just an audio bible) - ‘I never expected to see your face again, and now God has allowed me to see your children too!’ (Gen 48:11) Without stopping to think, I said to him: - ‘this is a message for you…’ And I don’t really know why, but the Lord prompted me to tell him the anecdote I told at the start of this email. Lost in thought, the old man said: - ‘My kids and I used to make dens in their bedrooms with sheets and things. We made up this whole new world, full of adventures… ‘ - ‘That’s great! I replied, you must have had loads of fun together… ‘ - No, he said, bitterly, because instead of playing with them, I told them off and told them to tidy their bedroom…(pause)… You know, my children no longer want anything to do with our faith… All was quiet for a while… then I broke the silence: - ‘it’s not too late to tell them you’re sorry…’ I would have liked to have finished with ‘and they lived happily ever after’ (well…something along those lines) But I don’t know if they did… All I know is: that I’m going to go and play with my kid… Bye!
